ABOUT KIRA

Hello! I am Kira, an Oregon-based designer, artist & handicrafter with a focus on graphic design, printmaking, illustration and soap making projects.

I live in the Cascade Foothills of Oregon on a farmstead with my husband. Together, we are raising four beautiful children , who are my greatest joy, and a barnyard of animals. We are slowly resurrecting our farmhouse to become our dream home - renovating it with our own hands, one square foot at a time. It is my largest canvas to date. We are surrounded by nature and I find it to be the greatest source of inspiration for all my creative endeavors.

Why do I create in the first place? Design, art and crafting have always been an innate part of who I am. The act of creating has allowed me to bring to life something beautiful from, sometimes, seemingly nothing. It allows me to draw from inside myself and share a bit of who I am with my family, friends, and community. When I create, I am able to put something on paper or screen to help tell a story.

I have found a great love for craft coffee and cocktails. This lead to the opening of Archive Coffee & Bar as well as Union Club. I’ve pursued certification in Herbalism and found nature to be a wonderful teacher and care taker. My love for such things birthed Moth & Moon Apothecary. I have been so blessed to create these three business from the ground up. I found a meaningful sense of pride in the creation of their identities. Wearing many hats, I shared the brand stories through my design. These interests have helped to hone and fine tune myself as a designer, both in print and digital media.

My love for creating goes beyond graphic & UX design and printmaking. I enjoy dabbling in many different art forms including illustration, watercolor, and pottery throwing. I enjoy all manners of handicraft like sewing, knitting, crochet, weaving and punch needle. At any given time you will find multiple works in progress. I just can’t get enough! I dream of one day adding an alpaca to our farmstead. I will shear its fiber, make it into roving, take that roving and spin it to yarn. With that yarn, I will knit sweaters and socks for everyone I love.

I might need a dozen alpaca.

When I am not creating or making snacks for the kids, I love being in the great outdoors. During the summer, I love to swim in our river, catch crawdads and swing from the rope swing into the watering hole. As the weather cools I love to cozy up in an oversized sweater with a mug of mulled wine and a good book. Other times you might find me in the garden harvesting veggies or in the kitchen baking up a storm.

I’m Kira and I am a creative.
